If you’ve been following our show since December last year, you’ll know that we take in donations for local homeless charity Coffee4Craig. We don’t expect much, but if people can spare a box of teabags or some cleaning supplies, it is very gratefully received to a charity that does a lot of good.
Following our nomination for Best Comedy Club in Manchester earlier this year, we decided we want to do more with what platform and influence we have.
At the moment, being a pay-what-you-feel show, we still barely make enough money to cover the costs of each night, so we are still a while away from being able to make cash donations. However, we do have a fair amount of reach among the local community and online.
This is why we are making a slight adjustment to the structure of our night. Each month, we will invite a local charity to come to a show and speak briefly on our stage about the work they do. They’ll explain how people can access the resources they provide and also help to support their efforts in the community. We’ll also be publishing interviews with them on our blog so you can find out more about these brilliant initiatives even if you can’t make it to our show.
These changes will come into effect at our next show on Monday 24th February, when we’ll have a representative from Mustard Tree coming along to talk about the incredible work they do to tackle homelessness in Manchester. Read our interview with Jack Barton from Mustard Tree here.
