Blizzard Comedy LIVE, featuring (No) Money in the Bank

WE ARE VAXXED AND BLIZZARD COMEDY IS BACK!

After a long, long hiatus in which we have missed you all terribly we are finally (cautiously) returning to live stand up comedy.

We’ll be at Gullivers from 7pm on Monday 4th October with some of our all time faves bringing their best jokes to the stage.

Featuring:

Katie Mitchell

A rising star of the Midlands comedy circuit, Katie Mitchell’s comedy is alternative yet pervasive. She revels in a mainstream stand-up environment, as well as more specific events like cabaret, burlesque, and music festivals.

Ben Hodge

Performer, filmmaker and comedian, Ben Hodge has made a huge impact on the Manchester comedy scene in the relatively short time he’s been doing stand-up. He was chosen as the People’s choice for the Chortle student comedy awards Lincoln heat and performed a 2 week run at the fringe as part of Salfunni compilation show featuring students from the University of Salford.

Tony Basnett

Tony started his stand up career whilst studying at Leeds Met University back in 2008. Originally from Hartlepool and now residing in Manchester Tony has taken the circuit by storm. Described as an upbeat and playful comic, Tony has been seen across the country at top comedy clubs as well as performing at some of the UK’s major music festivals. With a mischievous and positive style that will get any crowd to warm to his charm.

Not content with just performing Tony started running award nominated comedy nights under the name Trapdoor Comedy Club. This allowed him to work with some of the biggest names on the comedy circuit including the likes of Chris Ramsey, Glenn Wool & Jon Richardson to name a few. His comedy clubs also allowed him to establish himself as a very strong an competent MC.

Bobbie Jones

A combination of Dad Jokes and Daddy Issues, Bobbie-Ann Jones is one of the funniest prediabetic queers ever to come from Wolverhampton. They once made their counsellor cry and laugh at the same time, and they’re still proud of it. Is often seen carrying a single chocolate bar in a Sainsburys bag for life and rocking a killer rack.

Umby Winters

Life tourist, trans rights advocate and insufferable socialist, Umby Winters is a fan of words and the colour pink. Between Twitch streaming and stand up comedy, they’ve created a lot of cool content and last time they came to Blizzard inspired a literal fuck-monster.

Tony Wright

Tony Wright is a Manchester based Comic who has burst on to the comedy scene. Performing his first stand up set at aged 15 in his home county of Kent, since his debut Tony has made a huge impression on the circuit, leading to a residency as warm up act for Ramsgate Music Hall’s Edinburgh preview season in June-July 2015 opening for a certain Lou Sanders.

Since moving to Manchester Tony has started performing regular trial spots for the likes of Manford’s Comedy Clubs, The Comedy Store, Frog & Bucket, Kill For A Seat, Last Laugh as well as performing at Alex Boardman’s new Comedians Night, Deadcat Comedy and more.

Tony is one of the most promising emerging talents on the circuit, with writing ability that is often compared to Jimmy Carr and a natural persona on stage, Tony has a a huge future ahead of him.

headline act

(No) Money in the Bank

Otherwise known as Thom Bee & Andrew Marsh, (No) Money in the Bank are an alternative comedy double-act, best friends and absolute weirdos. The pair bonded their mutual love of wrestling, pop-punk and 90s sitcoms, and now all they do is create shows that reflect these mutual loves. (No) Money in the Bank are the closest thing to a punk bands mentality in the world of stand-up comedy, and they bring that DIY ethic and chaotic stage presence to every performance they put on.

and our wonderful host

“It was like when you see a car crash on the side of the road – you try as hard as you can to look anywhere else but you just can’t seem to tear your eyes away from the horror in front of you. However, as their set went on, I truly warmed to them… By the end of his set, I hated myself for my original judgement” – Kirstie O’Mahony (The Mancunion)

“The new monster-god of comedy.” – Tim Ferguson (Doug Anthony All Stars)
