Our teams for this episode are:
Mabel Slattery
Mabel Slattery has been funny on and off for nearly 13 years while studying, teaching and yelling startled exclamations into the abyss. She is still funny now but you have to ask nicely. Winner of nothing, producer of fringe-flu dispelling cordial, thought well of by most (hopefully).
“Kind of funny in an old person way” – Mabel’s Stepdaughter
and Stuart Dunlop
Stuart is a comedian, writer, and improviser based in Sheffield. His comedy career has carried him kicking and whimpering from Berlin to Beverley. He is the host of “The Alternative Cobra Meeting Comedy Quiz” as well as the creator and writer of the surreal podcast “Kio & Maxi’s Adventures in Everything”.
“Reminiscent of the likes of Sean Lock and Suzy Izzard … full of mischievous glee” – Blizzard Comedy
with team captain Katie Mitchell
A rising star of the Midlands comedy circuit, Katie Mitchell’s comedy is alternative yet pervasive. She revels in a mainstream stand-up environment, as well as more specific events like cabaret, burlesque, and music festivals.
versus
Ela Bambust
Four years ago, during the start of the pandemic, Ela started writing and hasn’t stopped to breathe since. The sheer psychic damage she has inflicted on readers and characters alike can not be simply measured by human means, but so far nobody has stepped up to the plate and paid her to stop.
She currently lives with two cats and a partner in Ghent, where she bothers all three of them as often as possible, when she isn’t committing further word crimes.
“I don’t get it.” – Mum
“Wait, you’re a comedian?” – Sister
“Laugh-out-loud funny, clever and always insightful.” – Ela
and Sully O’Sullivan
First landing on TV screens in New Zealand’s original stand-up series ‘Pulp Comedy’, globe trotting Kiwi Comedian Sully O’Sullivan is currently appearing in what might be the most international comedy show in the UK this year, or maybe ever!
‘A Complete Idiot’s Guide to New Zealand’ was written in the world’s southern most capital city, debuted at the Reykjavík Fringe in Iceland, and after a sellout 24 date run at Scotland’s Edinburgh Fringe, is travelling around the UK.
“Outrageously funny” ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑ – One4Review
“A huge comedic talent” ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑ – Edfringe Reviews
with team captain Kirstie Summers
Kirstie Summers is the administrative force behind Manchester’s multi-award-nominated safe space stand up show, Blizzard Comedy. She is now a regular team captain on their monthly livestreamed panel show, Broadcast Avalanche, known for breaking character, straying wildly off topic and bursting into unhinged rants.
with host Jonny Collins
Jonny Collins is an aggressively inclusive Non-Binary comedian, Jonny pulls no punches yet makes everyone feel welcome and represented in their thought provoking, and well constructed deconstructions of gender, sexuality and politics. With radical leftist ideals and a fast and furious delivery style, Jonny Collins is a favourite of socialist, anarchists, feminists (of the trans inclusive variety), and queer activists alike.
“Jonny is a force of nature on stage. A whirlwind of hilarity with a unique viewpoint, they energy and passion personified.” – XS Malarkey
“Jonny Collins is deceptively rapid-fire, with a gag rate that would shame most one-line merchants. They can bring a simmer to a boil with ease, and make a huge mess of your kitchen.” – James Ross (Quantum Leopard)
