and Joe Hollingworth
Joe Hollingworth is a writer, producer, and friend in the world of comedy. He travelled the UK with his esoteric, award-winning stand-up and his sidekick Baby Orville (an egg) before retiring from a life behind the microphone (the egg started to smell) to a life behind the scenes. He has worked with Joe Lycett, Nish Kumar, The Delightful Sausage, and many more incredible comedians, as well as working on his own silly projects. He can be found on the road with the country’s funniest people, at Manchester’s long-running XS Malarkey Comedy Club every Tuesday since 1997, and behind a laptop trying to squeeze one more pun out before breakfast. Joe’s first and currently penultimate book ‘Festive Advent Knowledge for Everyone!’ will be released in November 2023.
“Fantastic geeky confidence” – The Stand
“Brave, intelligent, and inventive” – Broadway Baby
Edinburgh Revue Stand-Up Champion 2015
Chortle Student Comedy Award semi-finalist 2015 & 2016
with team captain Kirstie Summers
Kirstie Summers is the administrative force behind Manchester’s multi-award-nominated safe space stand up show, Blizzard Comedy. She is now a regular team captain on their monthly livestreamed panel show, Broadcast Avalanche, known for breaking character, straying wildly off topic and bursting into unhinged rants.
“Too attractive” – Chris
“The punk older sister everyone needs” – Into the Red
and
Amarpal Singh
Amarpal had the fortune and misfortune of being brought up in Bradford by working class parents but falling into the bland trapdoor of middle aged and middle class monotony. Now as he hits his third quarter-life crisis, his stand up goes back to reflect on the bizarre contrast growing up and how it still effects him today: from school yard racism to bringing up a mixed race child, the show is a tender love letter to his family, his home town and the mental health issues that they both helped create.
“Amarpal is a comedy star in the making, and I can’t wait to see where his career takes him next.” – Blizzard Comedy
and Stuart Dunlop
Described as “like a British Steve Buscemi”, Stuart Dunlop is a comedian, improviser and writer based in Sheffield. As both himself and the wrestling-manager-turned-guru Mitch Merkabah, his comedy career has stretched from Berlin to Beverley.
He can be see as one third of the improvised Lovecraftian game show “Forbidden Playroom”, live in Sheffield!
He is also the writer of the comedy series “Kio & Maxi’s Adventures in Everything,” which can be found on Spotify and SoundCloud (@twostrangersproductions) – think “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, but weirder.
“Clever and well composed, Stuart will have you laughing all way through his set and again later when you realise the bits you missed the first time.” – Yellow Arch Comedy Club
with team captain Kath Marvelley
Come say G’day to this funny, warm and theatrical Aussie storyteller as she talks about the differences between the UK and Australia, her family and Aussie Wildlife. If you were to cross Sarah Pascoe with Steve Irwin crocodile hunter this might be what happens. Loved by audiences and snakes.
“Charismatic, confident, warm, assured and very funny.” – Picture House, Sheffield
“Gets her comedy from me” – Grandma
with host Jonny Collins
Jonny Collins is an aggressively inclusive Non-Binary comedian, Jonny pulls no punches yet makes everyone feel welcome and represented in their thought provoking, and well constructed deconstructions of gender, sexuality and politics. With radical leftist ideals and a fast and furious delivery style, Jonny Collins is a favourite of socialist, anarchists, feminists (of the trans inclusive variety), and queer activists alike.
“Jonny is a force of nature on stage. A whirlwind of hilarity with a unique viewpoint, they energy and passion personified.” – XS Malarkey
“Jonny Collins is deceptively rapid-fire, with a gag rate that would shame most one-line merchants. They can bring a simmer to a boil with ease, and make a huge mess of your kitchen.” – James Ross (Quantum Leopard)
