Blizzard Comedy’s Broadcast Avalanche New Year Special 2022

2022 is at an end and what kind of topical panel show would we be if we didn’t put on an end-of-year special reflecting on the full year of news? Join us on Monday 2nd January to see a bunch of our favourite familiar faces abruptly remembering news that happened as recently as October and go “oh FUCK that this year???”

This show will also be a fundraiser for local homelessness charity, Mermaids. We’ve worked with them before and their work is incredibly valuable with trans youth. If you’d like to donate to our fundraiser (during, ahead of or after the show) and find out more about why they’re so important, you can do so here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/bcba-nye-2022/

Our teams for this show are:

Kirstie Summers

The best kind’ (The Skinny).

Bobbie Jones

A combination of Dad Jokes and Daddy Issues, Bobbie-Ann Jones is one of the funniest prediabetic queers ever to come from Wolverhampton. She once made her counsellor cry and laugh at the same time, and she’s still proud of it. Is often seen carrying a single chocolate bar in a Sainsburys bag for life and rocking a killer rack.

versus

Katie Mitchell

A rising star of the Midlands comedy circuit, Katie Mitchell’s comedy is alternative yet pervasive. She revels in a mainstream stand-up environment, as well as more specific events like cabaret, burlesque, and music festivals.

“One of the weirdest and most brilliant new acts I’ve seen in a while.” – Monsoon of Random

and Cameron Sinclair Harris

Cameron Sinclair Harris is a comic from London via Nottingham. She deals in the theatric, absurd and chaotic, using silly and larger-than-life characters to deal with personal subject matter. Since establishing unique brand of anarchic queer comedy in Nottingham, she has immersed herself in London’s scene, performing wherever she can.

“A unique viewpoint, good stage presence, a touch of surrealism and a bit of panache to their delivery.”- Notts Comedy Review

with host Jonny Collins

Jonny Collins is an aggressively inclusive Non-Binary comedian, Jonny pulls no punches yet makes everyone feel welcome and represented in their thought provoking, and well constructed deconstructions of gender, sexuality and politics. With radical leftist ideals and a fast and furious delivery style, Jonny Collins is a favourite of socialist, anarchists, feminists (of the trans inclusive variety), and queer activists alike.

“Jonny is a force of nature on stage. A whirlwind of hilarity with a unique viewpoint, they energy and passion personified.” – XS Malarkey

“Jonny Collins is deceptively rapid-fire, with a gag rate that would shame most one-line merchants. They can bring a simmer to a boil with ease, and make a huge mess of your kitchen.” – James Ross (Quantum Leopard)
